We have a few options for what we should do for our April event, and would like to ask the important people what they would like to do :)

To give a little more info on the options available -

Overnighter in Harrow- This will start at 6pm on Saturday evening (the 24th) and will continue on through the night until 11am on Sunday morning. Thats 17 hours of solid gaming  The venue would be the LAN shop Harrow Arena use for Lanarchy 14 (http://www.lanarchy.co.uk/events/previous/dec2003.html). No need to bring any PC's, no need even to own a car...just jump on a tube and join us

Hmm, I think Wint could be right you know. I've just checked my calendar and it would seem after every Friday there is a weekend  Why did no-one make a post letting me know this before Hunter did

Simon, would you still be thinking of coming if we held it at Harrow Arena?

i can make any/all of the above, and so haven't voted for any of them :D

however, i would say that while the overnighter sounds fun, i think i would prefer something closer to normal hours (ie the 10->10pm ones) simply because it will give me a better chance of getting in on time the following monday (which, unfortunately, is very very important :/ )

still, if that is what gets chosen, i would be happy to attend :D

Hi all,
Just joined today.

Definitely want to start playing ASAP.
Arived in London recently and I'm glad to see regular LAN events going on.

Had 2 sell me PC back home so would prefer a LAN shop event.

Hi there futare :welcome:

Welcome to our forum :)

What sort of games do you usually play? Where have you come from?

futare

LAN : CS + Q3A + UT mostly. I like deathmatch (shoot everything that moves). Also CS but need to play with the right team.
But I am usually up for it if theres something else.
I prefer FPS's. I'll play other strategy and role play but I need action man!

Q:Where am I from?
A: mmmm.....down under....!?

What will be played most at events?
:munt:

HUNTER

normally CS, AoM due to most of the LANarchy staff and CoF members playing it lots and games can take hours.

Thats a rather stunted list of what we play, infact it probably only covers maybe 2

For me it is as much about the socialising as it is about the gaming

Yep. But dont forget about the Tasty Bacon butties....mmmmm

Right, a decision has been made, news will be announced as soon as we've switched sites. (Many things will change...might as well wait :) )

Too be honest it will have to be Watford for me even though it is far (but i know where it is). Another reason is that i spend a lot of money on my PC and games throughout the year, with new upgrades, parts and broadband etc to get it where it is today. So it will be strange or unproductive of me to spend the money to play on someone elses machine and enjoy myself doing it. Yeah, playing a machine with either a 3Ghz cpu or top of the range Nvidia or ATI gfx may make me want to go out and buy em. But what if i had them already?. Would be crazy to leave a machine like that at home. Plus i love/hate repairing PC's and fixing other Lan members machine, to help them join in, and i will miss that.

Anyway these are my reasons for Lan's like Watford and the defunkted Wimbledon. So will have to wait for the next one and see what happens.

Funnily enough it's partly this sort of stuff that makes us want to run events at LAN caf

I had a funny feeling the probs at Lan's such as Watford were the reasons for your new venue's, and i can understand that.

And no the others won't come unless they learn to drive or find a motorbike that will hold a PC and all the other stuff that comes with it. One guy has found a solution and has bought a small shuttle, but that is only one. Plus we will be recruiting for more members as most are now part time gamers :(

Will keep a space open for that weekend just in case i change my mind, cos i still love a good game :D

Mind you, here is another solution Worlds Smallest PC's (http://www.wspc.biz/) and i know the guy who made them and me girl friend has one, and they are cool

I have to disagree. I couldnt care less if the pc i play the games on (mine or anyone elses) was top spec or not, so long as the game runs fine. The main reason i attend Lan's (whether they be at the Harrow or Watford venue) is for the sheer entertainment factor. I couldnt give a mokeys about whos rig is bigger than mine or more colourful or who wins the game. Lans are for Fun and best of all, a social gathering to meet your mates and have a laugh. :D

Your just saying that Mice because your machine hardly work most of the time....lol
But i do agree on what you are saying about having fun and meeting your friends. (God i miss killing Hunter)

Why will they be bringing their PC's? :) Just tell them to hop on a tube and get up here! ;)

As for those Mini PC's, I would be concerned about the video memory, only one has more than 11meg :? Is it shared video memory?

I feel a flame coming on :gunner:

as someone once quoted to me "If your PC works all the time then its no fun".
How about, when you go out to get dinner, we remove/break/uninstall something so your machine will need fixing when you get back :)

But its only once in a while Lanarchy holds these lans so i try and go to each one (also this one is minutes away from my house )

South East London - Just hate London transport on a weekend. For example, got back to Heaththrow from Ireland at 10.30, didn't get home till 1.30. Had to be in work for 9 the next morning for a 12 hour shift. It kills the buzz of a nice trip. Like i said will see and take a chance again :(

Mincemeat
07-04-04, 03:37 PM
yeh Public transport sucks. I have to use it 7days a week. The worst was when i was lugging my antec Soho case to the OLSC/Lanarchy Lan in wimbledon. The ****ing rail from harrow & wealdston to clapham JN to wimbledon was ok one way (it was on a sunday). But on the way back, there was no service
