Thought this deserved its own thread not a bit part in the CSI thread :)

1st 2 eps of this were excellent. You can really see where the money went. Its like a cross between Jurassic Park, The Beach and Gilligans Island

Some nice back stories so far, good redirection and JJ Abrams is never afraid of a nice bra and panties shot

Good call on this Az

the show is great, its well written and all, I see a lot of familier faces from alot of my favourate programmes in the show (24,c.si.,alias, and smallville)but what I really want to know is what the hell is a panda bear doing on the tropical island :) unless it was part of the cargo

Azreal

They have already shot about 10 episodes of the show ( most seasons have 25), Im asuming they will shoot 2 alternate endings incase it gets cancelled , which I doubt as its now ranked 3rd in the ratings on weds night (behind CSI :NY and Law and order). Sky would be stupid not to pick this up.

Azreal
09-10-04, 05:14 AM
aparently there are exactly 13 episodes of the show.

Azreal

Good news for fans of Lost it's been anounced that Lost has been picked up for a full season, originally it had only 13 episodes now its going to get a full season of 25 episodes.

From executive producers J.J. Abrams (creator of Alias), Damon Lindelof (Crossing Jordan) and Bryan Burk (Alias) comes an action-packed adventure that will bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are Lost.

Stripped of everything, the 48 survivors of a horrific plane crash scavenge what they can from the plane for their survival. Some panic. Some pin their hopes on rescue. A few find inner strength they never knew they had. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But the island holds many secrets, including the intense howls of the mysterious creatures stalking the jungle, which fill them all with fear. Fortunately, thanks to the calm leadership of quick-thinking Jack and level-headed Kate, they have hope. But even heroes have secrets, as the survivors will come to learn.

For four weeks in a row (all four of its telecasts), Lost has been the No. 1 program in its hour among viewers and young adults. On its most recent telecast (10/13/04), Lost ranked as the No. 1 TV program of the night in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. In addition, on the ame night the new drama drew its largest overall audience since its debut episode (9/22/04) and hit series highs in Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens 12-17 and Kids 2-11. Compared to the first four weeks of last season, Lost has improved the hour for ABC by 6.1 million viewers (17.6 million vs. 11.5 million) and by 40% in Adults 18-49 (6.6/18 vs. 4.7/13).

Lost stars Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Maggie Grace as Shannon, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Malcolm David Kelley as Walt, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie, Terry O'Quinn as Locke, Harold Perrineau as Michael and Ian Somerhalder as Boone.

Lost was created by Jeffrey Lieber and J.J. Abrams & Damon Lindelof. Abrams, Lindelof and Bryan Burk serve as executive producers. Jack Bender and David Fury (Angel) are co-executive producers. Lost, which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii, is from Touchstone Television.

Oh and btw Gob how about them Yankees aye? who's the daddy now aye?

mmmm i'm 'lost' as to what all the hype is about.

I've watched the first 4 or 5 episodes with Faye and neither of us has been particularly taken with it.

We think this is largely due to the way channel 4 or whoever has decided to drip feed us this so-called amazing TV series. advert after bloody advert and then after the hour is up not much has happened. I'm sure if it was on 5 times a week for 5 weeks with half the amount of adverts we'd really get into it - the story idea is right up my street and I can cope with the hollywood presentation.

i need to get sky-plus

BTW is anyone else reminded of rutger Hower/Christopher Walken when listening to older bald-headed character with the scar accross his eye - listen to his delivery.

wintermute
03-09-05, 08:49 PM
Well I just finished watching the whole thing (2 weeks, all 25 episodes, no adverts ;) - Brikkie, you're just going about it the wrong way), and I have to agree with the general consensus - it's a very good drama series. I must say I didn't really get into it until about the eighth episode, I'll not say what happened but it was then that I went from "this is something to watch while I'm eating my dinner" to "I'll just watch one more episode before bed".

It really is so much more than just a bunch of people stuck on an island...

Btw Dr House FTW!

Lestat
17-10-05, 01:21 PM
Nah I feel Lost is basically the best thing on telly mainly cause of the twists and turns in the plot and then something really unexpected happens that you never did imagine happening.

Just finished watching season 1 and to say i'm a bit annoyed is an understatement....

****spoilers****

What kind of an ending was that? I know they have to leave some kind of 'cliffhanger' for seaon 2 but is it me or did they not answer any of the fundamental questions that arose throughout the series...

what the hell was the hatch?
who or what are 'the others'
what the hell is in the jungle eating people
where does the polar bear come from
why is there a pirate ship in the middle of the jungle
what are all the numbers about?

i don't want anyone to tell me what happens in series 2 but i am looking for some kind of gaurantee that the answers to the question will be made clear!!!!

showed you how the plane crashed (Desmonds fault) showed you more about the others (Henry is the leasder) and what happens when the timer reaches zero (is Desmond,Locke and Eko really dead?)

ArTFuL DoDGeR

I agree with all the stuff about the writers 'tapdancing' in the middle of the series, it seems they decided they would do stuff then changed their mind:

**SPOILER TO PEOPLE WHO HAVENT SEEN 2**

Like when Eko decided he would build the church, he started then just decided he didnt want to any more, i know its only small but i think there was quite a few pointless things like that.

Also i would never have thought that "Henry" would be the leader, why would he put himself in the situation of risking being captured, and maybe killed, he also looks a bit scrawy and un-powerful

As has been said though, i hope series three does do flashbacks of the others, and we find out why they are actually there!

The new series of Lost will focus more on the others. There will be less flashbacks of the regular survivors as we find out who the others are, what they are trying to accomplish and what happened in the past.

Fake Henry Gale is now signed as a regular so he will be in it loads from now on. I think this is great as he is one of the best characters and really lifted the show as it started to sag in the middle.

Oh, I'm pretty sure they have some big plans. That finale really twisted things around didn't it? A few questions for us to specualte upon... What the hell was Desmond's ex-girlfriend doing in cahoots with a group of Italians in the arctic? And just what exactly did they find that was so important? Where in the hell is that Island located (and NOT hawaii)? Who are the others? Are they really the good guys?

Oh and go check out this website The Hanso Foundation (www.thehansofoundation.com), it's got some veeery creepy hiden features. Gave me shivers up my spine when i tried to sign up to their newsletter!

SPOILERS FOR SERIES 2 FINALE

Those guys where Portugues.

That was the very first glimpse of the outside world that wasn't a flashback. They obviously found the anomoly that occurs when the button isn't pushed. The question is....how does she know that to find Desmond, she needs to find that anomoly???

NcA
10-07-06, 05:24 PM
I'm pretty sure they were Italians mate. Watched it over in detail, and tried to pick up the language, my Spanish girlfriend said it wasn't spanish and I speak a bit of Italian.... so.... :?

As for the girlfriend, perhaps, when the button wasn't pushed, and the massive electro-magnetic discharge took place, the bubble of whatever it is that keeps the island secret was burst, allowing the radar signal from Desmond's yacht to be picked up. An alternate theory of mine is to do with her father being connected to the hanso foundation and dharma, and her being a high-ranking employee of some sort due to her father. Thus she would be notified of any information involving the island. <- But even I don't believe that one. Remember what she said about 'with enough money you can find anybody'.... Some food for thought :)

It's Portuguese.

Yes her father is Widmore, an important figure in Lost (and also Jim Robinson from Neighbours  ) His company have started to crop up in the second season as they make various items that appear, such as the pregnancy test kit and appears in the background of Charlies flashback. Whether his company in working alongside Hanso and Dharma or whether it is in rivalry is yet to be seen.

Man I wish I was at San Diago Comic -Con

Lost" co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof, executive producers Bryan Burk and Carlton Cuse, and stars Jorge Garcia (Hugo) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) attended the San Diego Comic-Con today and talked about the upcoming season three starting on October 4. The presentation was briefly interrupted by a planned protestor, a Rachel Blake, who yelled at them for supporting the Hanso Foundation and told people to go to HansoExposed.com.

Season three will have a vastly different feeling, but at the same time reembrace the roots of the series.

- Season three will focus more on adventure.

- The first six episodes in the fall will be like a mini-series and focuses on the captivity story of Jack, Kate and Sawyer.

- We'll learn more about The Others and Alex's story.

- An event will happen mid-season that will blow people away!

- J.J. Abrams will co-write the first episode which is titled "The Tale of Two Cities." He'll also direct the seventh episode, which is the first episode of the second half of the third season (early next year).

- They are going to reveal what happened to Locke, Desmond and Echo.

- They are adding new regular characters, which they are casting for now.

- You'll see more scenes from the outside world (taking place at the same time they are on the island).

- Desmond and Penny's relationship forms a new seed for a new element in the series.

- Libby will be back to fill in the gaps.

- Within the first few episodes Kate "gets with someone".

- They are going to explain the medical miracles.

- They debunked the rumor that the monster is a cloud nanobot.

- The hyroglypics on the countdown clock are signs of the underworld.

- They have 4 to 5 seasons planned out, and they knew the beginning and ending from the start. Going beyond 5 seasons would be stretching it, they said.

- If they introduce a question on the show, they already know the answer.

- They do look at fans' reactions and that does affect how they do things on the show.

- They showed a promo for the 13 "Lost" diaries that will be on Verizon, which featured Hugo finding a camera and interviewing people on the island.

- A "Lost" game from Ubisoft is coming next year which features a new story.

- On the season two DVD, you can expect one feature which has all of Sawyer's famous lines!

I thought the start of season 3 was a little lacking in intrigue. After all they've set up for this series the last thing I was REALLY interested in was seeing what happened to those 3. What about Michael and Walt? Ecko and Locke? The giant 4-toed foot? But anyways I'm glad it's back, it gives me something to watch on thursday nights. And the episode wasn't really THAT bad. So now we know about the polar bears (kinda), the others' community & their dharma connections. So decent episode, hopefully the next one will confirm that the third series isn't gonna be a sellout.

After the last episode I was a bit worried about whether Lost was going to kinda fall flat on it's intrigue, but, good 'ol JJ has just about redeemed my faith again. NcA
19-02-07, 05:39 PM
Agreed. The whole Jack Kate Sawyer story is boring me now. It's overly dramatic, and it's really detracting from the mystery of what the 'others' were. Desmond's [spoiler:3c7d674c4b]new 'powers'[/spoiler:3c7d674c4b] have me pretty fixated as well as his whole back story. It's a shame that [spoiler:3c7d674c4b]Ecko had to be killed off, as he was an excellent character, and I'd love to have seen more of his story[/spoiler:3c7d674c4b]. [spoiler:3c7d674c4b]Charlie's pretty much guaranteed to be killed off in the next few episodes, and I'm not really all that fussed,[/spoiler:3c7d674c4b] he needs to get on with his career, instead of wasting time in a TV part that's going nowhere indefinately. What ever happened to Locke? And finally, it would be good to see Sawyer back to what he once was, as his puns were invariably classic, not to mention his con-man-past.

NcA

It was a slip, the whole incident in question is pretty old news to Lost fans, so it didn't really stand out as a spoiler to me. I did manage to use the spoiler code for anything that's happened in the past 4 episodes though, that's gotta count for something ;) Anyways, i'll be a little more discrimiative when I post in this topic again (or just use the code for the whole lot!).

Wow! That one totally slipped by me when I watched it. It certainly provokes a lot of interesting thoughts (although I really have no idea what the buddah's doing there). Don't ask me why, but I just 'discovered' (for no better word) that 'Namaste' is an anagram for 'Eats Man'

NcA
20-02-07, 10:45 PM
[spoiler:fb67c7bbe1]I don't think the buddah has anything to do with the statue (it was four-toed btw), but it's definately to do with the Island. The whole way through his 'past-life re-lived' there's all sorts of subtle references to things on the Island. That picture has to be one of the most cryptic though, everything else was fairly straightforward, or at least understandable. I think it's to do with some Dharma Corp philosophy, or ideals that have been abandoned long ago...?[/spoiler:fb67c7bbe1]

what makes me wonder, is if they planned the whole story from start to finish before recording hence the amazin tie ins with later episodes or as they are filming they think of ways in which to make it tie in to the beginning? :P obviously the ending was pre planned but all the little subtle parts?

Firstly if you haven't seen the last 2 episodes of Lost get out there and watch them. For those of you who have seen them or don't care read on.

Well i have finished 6 years, some epic storytelling some not so good. Overall it was a fantastic series and it has easily gone in there with Buffy/The west wing as the best acted, scripted and overall concept of a show.
It was a long journey and yes while we haven't got a complete run down of how it all happened and what happened all the major questions were answered. and the last 2 episodes were amazing I am glad I sat there and enjoyed it without going out of my way to read reviews and spoilers and even think about where this is going to much I enjoyed it for pure entertainment.

I thought I might even come on here and start a analysis of the show but for me I am satisfied and sad that it has ended. I doubt there will be another show quite like Lost there were so many mysteries week to week that it kept me glued to the TV. And sure not everything was handed to you on a plate at the end. But anyone who thought it would be is obviously insane :)

I will miss Lost it fulfilled the sci-fi/fantasy Geek in me and atm there is nothing really out there to replace it, sure some may say Fringe but for me while its very good it still lacks something that Lost had. I think fringe still reminds me a bit of the x-files.

Anyway if you have never watched Lost give it a go it will surprise you and the rest of you hope you all enjoyed the Final episodes as much as me.

Pacific was a dissapointing series compared to airborne.. but still worth watching. Im cant wait to go home as in one hour i will get to watch, 24's last 2 episodes and chucks last 2 episodes of the current series.

Something to enjoy tonight.
