I had a friend came down from Leicester with tickets, he stopped by before going in. Says he had a great time, although they queued for 3 hours to get in initially :?

It was live from the BBC, was a great show. Robbie Williams really did steal the show though.

why? the music was shit....

also i believe some bands playing isn't going to solve poverty or going to get anyone involved, I belive poverty = corrupt goverments

many africans say its one of the richest continents, but the money isn't being spent correctly

Actually Brisk I think you are wrong, This was about giving a voice to the people and infleuncing the world leaders. Now since that is the fundementals of politics it turned out to be quite a powerfull voice.

People should always speak up for what they believe in and if millions speak up do the politicians listen well they better.

Didn't see much of it (I was at oasis gig in Manchester) but they showed some on the big screens and it looked awesome.

Just reading this again, i've just realised something...
How the hell can you say the music was shit? Throughout all the venues every single musical genre was covered surely!

I cried when the Floyd came on as it I havent seen them play since 1985. To have Roger Waters there was fantastic as well! Good concert over all apart from our party nearly burning our hedge down because of the BBQ!

:wall:

Just because you don't like it don't mean it ain't no good

and they said it better than I could. The Who were f*cking amazing.... I didn't see Pink Floyd as apparently CSI was more important :?

Even Macca and U2 were good...

The whole event set out to raise aweness of the issues and tbh it did that. The G8 boys now need to address those issues (and consider the removal of corrupt goverments - they did it in Iraq!!!) or there will be public outcry.

Points to the dishevelled one for thought and execution I think.

who are these live 8 anyway?

SpyHunterUK
04-07-05, 04:20 PM
Based on the G8- the 8 most poweful nations in the world, including America and us :P

The Guardian had a very good front page today of Bush at "G1" and about how he has already said he'll put America's interests first :/

World War Three anyone?

More than 26.4 million people from around the world sent text messages on Saturday in support of the Live 8 campaign to cancel the debts of the poorest countries, setting a world record, organizers said.

I bet the phone companies are loving them for it

So you would pick up a gun and fight for the "cause" just because you were born in a certain place in the world? Would you pick up a gun and fight in Iraq? Would you pick up a gun a 'peacekeep' in Sudan? Afghanistan? Nothern Ireland? Kosovo? The war on terror?

its not as simple as a computer game, there are real dangers, there is real killing, death and destruction...

i'd pick up a gun and fu... i mean buck fush - all be it, a dictator will always rise from the ashes, there will always be an undesireable world leader.

Where did this war and killing come from? We were talking about a gig weren't we?

reading the above makes me wonder if all those 'Moms against computer games' type organisations might not actually have a point... :?

Well the Uk was built on our wars and battles. So i would keep that tradition, if i had to (WW3)

Funny, I thought it was the Act of Union 1707 which came about after Liz I didn't have any kids :-)

Yes, the UK was built on a trade, not war - basically England bankrupted the Scottish colony in 'the new world' and then offered to bail out all the Scottish investors if they signed the Act of Union.

damn you english fiends.

And, i reckon that you cannot blame computer games - look at bush and blair, brilliant roll models if you like bullets, discrimination and racial hate.
