View Full Version : EA Taking Over The World
Okay, I'm convinced EA are hell bent on world domination. Not only are they muscling others out of the sports genre, creating a 'ranked server' con with their popular Battlefield 2, but now they have signed a deal with Valve to distribute all their retail publications!
Surely there can't be long left!
Maybe we should boycott all EA games? :evillaugh: I'm sure that would bring them to their knees and make them rethink their dastardly plan? :side:
what's that? you don't think that would work?
curses - foiled again... :sadwalk:
Though it does seem that EA are starting to become the 'microsoft' of the games industry. A couple of aggresive 'aquisitions' and they could have the whole market by the knackers. That' not a good thing for the consumer
"Coming soon - CounterStrike 2006, new this year - colour coded outfits for Counter terrorists, the lastest weaponry (amaze your frinds with the limited edition N00b cannon, fire and forget rockets, apache helicopters & Boeing 747s and free copies of flight simulator for terrorists..."
I actually do not mind to much long as they do not touch turbine and frankly still think they are miles better than SOE. I hate them with a vengence of God and should be smote from above.

Valve partnered with Activision to release Day of Defeat Retail. I doubt partnering with EA will be much different. Online delivery via Steam remains unaffected so no change as far as I'm concerned.
What would be good is if they could deliver BF2 patches via Steam, but I doubt that will ever happen!

Being better than SOE isn't so much of an achievment as a requirement...
lol, speaking of EA, you guys seen that pure pwnage video when he is sad becuase ea stopped making pages for zero hour

My first encounter with EA was a very good one, with the 'Strike' series of games on the sega megadrive which involved going around i na helicopter and shooting everything. (Urban Strike, Desert Strike et al.) That was back in the day when they were still known as electronic arts and had a really crappy logo.
Now EA aquire the US's largest mobile games maker - they're taking over I tells ya! (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/051208/20051208005763.html)

i bet they will go it alone and make a console of there own over the next few years.
EA buys Mythic Entertainment. (http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/articles/713/713563p1.html)
After a series of approvals and other bureaucratic requirements are met, Mythic Entertainment will become EA Mythic. The Virginia-based development house will be a wholly-owned studio of Electronic Arts and will be tasked with developing massively multiplayer online role-playing games. Mythic employs 175 people, all of whom will stay in its Fairfax, Virginia, studio. The current President, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Mythic Mark Jacobs, will become Vice President, General Manager of EA Mythic.
Mythics current big MMORPG is Dark Age of Camelot, which wasn't a bad game when I played it for a few months.
