Well it's the Source version of DoD that get's unlocked 11pm tonight. The none source version is good IMHO, but for some strange reason it's never been popular on this fourm, tune into www.olsc.co.uk tommrow to see what we think...

DoD requires more skill than CS:S or CoD as the weapons are more realistic and the classes are well balanced. You can't win a game on your own, you have to work as a team.

It sounds like this is even more true with DoD:S, which IMHO is a good thing.

You should give it another go, with time and practice you learn to control the weapon recoil, learn the maps, and the best tactics for each map.

Trust me, it's worth the effort. :thumbs:

thats realism that is.

There was at least one update that addressed some recoil issues:
---------- nicked from news -----------------
Increased mp44 recoil Reduced BAR, Bren side to side recoil
Increased undeployed machine gun recoil
Reduced K43 recoil ( 0.15 -> 0.13 )
Reduced greasegun recoil to match thompson ( 0.5 -> 0.4 )
Reduced FG42 recoil to match BAR ( 1.3 -> 1.0 )
Reduced Bren recoil to match BAR ( 1.3 -> 1.0 )
Reduced Enfield aim penalty to match K98
Increased K98 and Enfield recoil ( 1.0 -> 1.5 ) to match garand
Improved Enfield accuracy
Rewrote recoil system and tweaked all recoil amounts to match old values
-- got bored at this point --

I've played it a few times & TBH I find it requires little skill.

I have played it 6 times in total & apart from the first half a dozen rounds or so I managed to go straight to the top of the leader board by simply running, capping flags & finding other routes to flags.

In order for me to do this it means either:-

I am an uber player - (not likely :/)
Everyone else is crap - (possible)
The game doesn;t really require that much from a player - (most likely).

The games actually good for a laugh & quite enjoyable but since it only has 4 maps :/ & is pretty easy I can;t see it keeping me too occupied.

Valve should relase new maps through Steam, can anybody remember how many maps CS:Ketchup was relased with?

And as for heading up the leaderboard straight off, where your teammates trying to cap flags?

Valve has pitched DoD:Source at the CS:Source community, dumbing it down and making it easier for noobs to pick up and enjoy.

IMHO they've tinkered a little too much with the gameplay. Though it is still good fun!
