Well, I'm a bit fed up of taking a while to decrypt what people are trying to say. So I'm writing a post that people can link to instead of typing "Speak in English you fool!", or "Use the preview/edit buton ffs!"

1) The preview button

This little tool lets you see your post before you post, so you can check links, spelling and punctuation. I know it sounds like some kind of exam, but without punctuation, correct links or pictures and spelling, a post can very soon take 5 minutes to read, be mis-interpreted, and span 2400 pixels across the screen because you posted a link/picture that was too big.

It sounds so simple, yet many people ignore it. Heres a picture:

2) The edit button, it's simple. Edit your post. It's that simple. Use it when you have more information to add to avoid double posts, a mistake to change, etc.

3) How to post in English
http://www.penguin133.co.uk/lnyposts/wrong.jpg
You just posted this, and somebody yells "English you moron!". But, you did post in English. Wrong. It is coherent. Wrong again. You may think it saves time, defines your style of writing, but infact, it takes me a long time trying to figure what the hell you are trying to say. Here's the English version:

4) The search button

This doesn't happen too often, but I'll post it anyway. The search button. This magic little thing was designed to stop endless posts like, for example, "Why are the servers down?", "Can this be added", etc...

5) The Quote button.

It seems a bit silly when people do things that take more time to do AND make things look a bit messy . If you want to quote somebody, just press this button, and delete what you don't want to quote.

6) Finally. Dont post when too drunk, we all know the results

...
why didn t hl2 have all the pretty ness to it! i didnt listen t the chating but i think i may play hl2 again now!!

So next time you see one of the above bad examples, link to this thread, the "Beginners" guide to forums! :D

 Nice post Penguin :)

We have mentioned to many people, we do have standards here. We aren't just any old forum letting people post b0ll0x on the forum. If that's what you want to do, I suggest you look elsewhere, sorry.

Totally agree. If you can't be arsed to write it what makes you think we can be arsed to read it?

Shouldn't this thread be a sticky in the website section?

 Nice comic.

Yeah, I was thinking of shifting it to the website forum. Sticky is probably a good idea too
