How to make a css transparent spray using photoshop

Right, after noone took my request on csbanana.com for the LNY spay I decided to do it myself, and it was really easy.

Basically it is all spelled out here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/craigweb2k/Spray_Tut/) but I will detail it quickly below

1) make your spray using gif images (if you want transparency) using photoshop and save the final article as a .tga file
2) dl the vtex program from the site above "here" clicky
3) follow their instructions
4) this will create the vmt and vtf files in your (name)/css/csrtike/materials/vgui/logos folder
5) select the spray in your options menu in css

I tried using a jpeg but it does not produce a transparent background. As McBain said pls post one you have made using a jpeg.

**EDIT** - I have made another one for me, and am now taking requests - its good fun once you know how to do it.

It's not transparent, it's a white background.
The only file formats that support transparency are .gif and .png. You cannot get a transparent .jpg
Edit: You've just changed it for a transparent .png as I was typing this

i was under the impression that BB and everyone else was saying that you can start with a .jpg and not end up with a transparent image.

your spray must be a miltuple of 64 in res, i.e. 64x64, 128x64 ... 512x512 or it will not produce a vtf output - the output also appears in the vtex materials/logo folder not the actual cstrike one

i did it with the actual file shown in the tutorial,
i put the file in the folder it said at the end and then when you have to go on this thing and it changes it it didnt appear in the other folder

alright guys i have had a go at making my own spray however i am using adobe photoshop element 2 which uses the gif file format but css options spray files dosent seem to pick up this can anyone help with other ways getting around this????

yep this is the problem I encountered. You need to save as a tga then change to vtf/vmt using the program on the clicky above. If you send me the gif or the tga file output file I can change it for you :)

Quite nice... try an emboss on the helmet text... i forget which emboss but there's only 4 i think...

Couple of minor things:
1) The Gimp can produce the tga files as well (and is free)
2) The sparys also work in DoD
