right, after playing around with this release of GC i have to say i'm not really very impressed at all.
I didnt think the Physics were very good, & the vehicles arent too impressive. The AT-ST's wobble like penquins... The land speeders dont seem to brake very well, but are quite good to fly. I couldnt even get the Millenium Falcon out of the hanger, it only seemed to go up and crash into the roof when i accelerated (altho it might of been that my flying sucked...)
As for the graphics... unfortunatly as much as i wanted to like this mod, they didnt impress me either, the grenade for example floats in mid-air next to the hand that is supposed to be carrying it.
Lets hope this mod gets better with time...
I think you're possibley being a little harsh on their first ever alpha release.
I didnt think the Physics were very good
They are far far better than the physics of Desert Combat. The Ships fly like something that is flying, rather than something driving through the air (lol, does that make sense...I'm not sure I even understand it, but the physics feel a lot better than when flying and driving vehicles in DC)

I have to admit, my eyes lit up when I saw this in the hanger, hopped in, checked out the gunning turrets and dreamed of the fun that could be have with other gamers over a LAN. Then I hopped into the pilots seat, and flew it straight up into the ceiling... :(

Granted, the grenades looked a little silly. I can live with that for now. For me, I am left wondering why they have a knife and not a light saber?
Generally the textures really aren't too good though. The best example is when you spawn in the Rebel base, deep underground (I think). Looking at the walls I realised how blocky and ammatuer the walls and surroundings looked.
All in all, if you're on broadband and you're even just a small Star Wars fan, this mod is worth the download.
Lets hope this mod gets better with time...

I think it would be unlikely, unless you're thinking they'll have patches to the alpha release? Might be a market selling CDRs on eBay mind you?

Why unlikely? DC has been patched several times. It's only the last one that was only available full download, and the file jumped from around 170meg to over 300meg. I guess they put maps and models in and decided it would be easier to only release a full download.

Just normal software development terminology/practice - it may well not apply here (it's not like I've followed the pre-releases, so I'm probably talking out of my arse...), but if you've got an 'alpha release' I'd expect a 'beta release' rather than an 'alpha patch'.

Yeah but it's not like you release the alpha and then the beta and then the actual program (mods don't anyway). Normally while a mod is in both alpha and beta there will be several updates to it, fixing problems found.

Galactic Conquest isnt great but its there first release and it only had 1 map with decent vehicles i.e falcon,tie fighter. the falcon is easy to get out of the hanger, all u do is when u start to go up, let go of the power and the mouse forward, then u might be able to get it out.
overall i give GC a 6/10

I was quite dissapointed after instaling galactic conquest becease
the one map that it had dident even work and it ran very badly
but i do agree with sonic_dude that it is there first release so
i shal be looking forawd to the full new gc
