my comp keeps freezing for no real reason i can be just sittin there on desktop and everything totaly freezes i tihnk it mite be my gfx card coz before i put this in it didnt used to do it



i have a athlon xp 1600, 256sdram, 40gig hd 5400rpm, sb128, and a gay sis 315 gfx card (did have gf2 but needed money so had to sell it )

These sort of problems can be difficult to track down. I'd try the following things:



1. Run a full scan disk, if your computer is crashing frequently it's likely to cause disk errors, which will make it crash more. Make sure you check all the boxes to do a complete scan.



2. Try re-seating your graphics card, check the connectors are clean (use a dry cloth).



3. Install an updated driver for your card, or re-install the current one.



If you can get hold of/borrow an alternative gfx card then try that and see if your computer still hangs. It might be that your gfx card is faulty or just incompatible with something else on your motherboard, in which case there's not much you can do except get a new one...
