Fairly common on forums, thought we might as well have one :)

Here's how it works. Post a quote from a film. Nothing too obscure, make it possible for people to have a reasonable go. Don't post quotes from films before the 80's cause half this forum wouldn't have even been born then.

Once a quote has been posted, no-one post any more until it has been guessed. The person that guessed correctly gets to post the next quote. If you're just guessing, don't post the new quote until it's confirmed that you're correct. If you know it is right, go ahead and post the next one.

If you don't have a quote to post, let people know you are passing you're chance to post and then whoever posts the next quote takes over.

Most importantly....get your quotes right! You post a quote that isn't even what someone said and everyone elses chances of actually getting it go out the window

If a quote hasn't been guessed after 72 hours, to keep things rolling me, Sc00by or Wintermute may post that it is being moved on from, and a new quote will be needed.

A little complicated? Yup! ;)

Here's the starter -
I could be the walrus....I'd still have to bum rides off of people.

Well this went down like a led balloon

To hard? Or no-one wants to play?

A clue would be, a John Hughes film from the 80s. (It is quite well known)

Otherwise...someone else throw a film quote in :)

That's got to be the man in your avatar, hasn't it? Empire Strikes Back?

what about Crazy bellringer was right, there's money to be made in a place like this. ?

Dusted
18-10-03, 08:10 AM
Give the man a cigar....Mr Vader himself from Empire (my personal favourite from the Saga...)

I remembered it was also a sample from the SNES game aswell - when battling Vader at the end if you died, or got one up on you "All too easy..." - anyone remember Super Star Wars and Super Empire Strikes Back et al on that classic console?? I know Smokey still has his SSW n SNES going strong!

Sc00by
18-10-03, 12:19 PM
LtTomWoolley]what about Crazy bellringer was right, there's money to be made in a place like this.

men in black? (a godawful film, but not as bad as the second one)

Mrs Scoobs
18-10-03, 03:56 PM
Incorrect i am afraid...

Crippler2032
18-10-03, 04:01 PM
If its what i think it is then the quote is slightly wrong but my guess would be Split Second

Sc00by
18-10-03, 04:23 PM
Yes the quote is slightly wrong (sorry about that) and yes it is Split Second. Well done Sir...

Crippler2032
18-10-03, 04:48 PM
alright, a nice easy one for you guys again.

'Do you think he's maybe compensating for something?'

Sc00by
18-10-03, 09:23 PM
OK here's another easy one, well I think it's easy...

"God is our co-pilot"

McBain
18-10-03, 09:40 PM
"God is our co-pilot"

I've never seen it, but is it Blues Brothers?

Psycho Hamster
18-10-03, 10:56 PM
Here is a mega easy one.....

Maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.

Mrs Scoobs
18-10-03, 11:01 PM
It is not the blues bros.

Sarah

Sc00by
18-10-03, 11:35 PM
OK I know where Psycho Hamster's quote comes from, but shame on me I had to look it up, so I'm not even going to try and claim it...

My favourite Blues Brothers quote:

We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing shades... Let's hit it!

N.B. - It's been a while since I've seen it so this probably isn't exactly right :(

Clue for my quote:
It's followed by the immortal lines:

"God is our co-pilot? - remember our car? It's only got 2 seats...

Where's he going to sit?" Classic...

If it helps the 2 characters are played by Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin...

ratty
18-10-03, 11:37 PM
Maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.

Crippler2032

[OLSC]Papa Smurf
19-10-03, 07:22 PM
I'll chuck one into the pot because I'm feeling generous (and can't be bothered to abide by the rules)

"You'd like to think that, wouldn't you!"

bonus point for knowing the characters name

ratty
21-10-03, 01:40 PM

[OLSC]Papa Smurf
21-10-03, 06:20 PM

Sc00by
21-10-03, 07:23 PM

Crippler2032

Dusted
22-10-03, 07:04 PM
OMG!!!!! I can't beleive that I missed that one of Smurfs!

Princess Bride is one of my all time favourites!

"Inconceivable!"

"I will say to the 6 fingered man; hallo - my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father - prepare to die!"

Made my day that has. Even if I didnt get it!

McBain
22-10-03, 07:07 PM
Okay, so who's going to throw us a new quote? :side:

ratty
22-10-03, 07:18 PM
Right :!:

Ratty's is Midnight Run and Smurf's is Princess Bride! :D

Sc00by
22-10-03, 07:27 PM
Easy one for you, but who's going to admit to having seen the film it's from?

Where's the quote in my sig. from?

And a slightly harder one:

"In the event of premature ejaculation, the Joy of Sex album comes equipped with BIG JIM SLADE!
Big Jim, former tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is outfitted with various whips, chains, and a sexual appetite that will knock your socks off!
Big Jim has satisfied women throughout the world...and the capital of Nebraska is Lincoln!"

Have fun...

--edited to get the quote right

Crippler2032
22-10-03, 07:30 PM
thats actually a really easy one (i think) or i am going to look very stupid for getting it wrong, but i believe thats the 'Lost in Space' movie the guy from friends in it

Sc00by
22-10-03, 07:31 PM
Which one is easy? You're wrong on both counts though.

[OLSC]Papa Smurf
22-10-03, 07:33 PM

Crippler2032
22-10-03, 07:33 PM

Sc00by
22-10-03, 07:37 PM
OK, for what it's worth Smurf's wasn't there when I started posting mine either.

Oh and I've edited mine so that it's the correct quote now...

[OLSC]Papa Smurf
23-10-03, 12:52 PM
Papa Smurf]no, he's right mine was lost in space

dire movie, but the soundtrack is good

just incase it got lost in the confusion

McBain
26-10-03, 01:43 PM
Apparently no-one has actually said which film Sc00by's quote is from...I always assumed it was the Sc00by Doo movie, please correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't seen it (and don't intend to).

So which quotes are we still needing to get? Please don't post any more until we're down to maybe only 1 to go. Also, please be clear which quote your giving the answer too, as it's just naming films that causes the confusions :)

Mrs Scoobs
26-10-03, 07:47 PM
Scooby's quote is indeed from the scooby do film. Though no-one has guessed his other quote yet...

Sarah

McBain
26-10-03, 08:05 PM
Sc00by's -
"In the event of premature ejaculation, the Joy of Sex album comes equipped with BIG JIM SLADE!
Big Jim, former tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is outfitted with various whips, chains, and a sexual appetite that will knock your socks off!
Big Jim has satisfied women throughout the world...and the capital of Nebraska is Lincoln!"
The initials are KFM...I'll give folk a couple of days though ;)

McBain
01-11-03, 06:05 PM
So...was it Kentuky Fried Movie?

Mrs Scoobs
01-11-03, 06:06 PM
Yes - it was.

McBain
01-11-03, 06:15 PM
Okay, so here's my one. It's quite easy -
Shoot the glass
In the film it's said in some foreign language first, then repeated in english...

Psycho Hamster
01-11-03, 10:25 PM
Die Hard, i hope :?:

McBain
02-11-03, 12:08 PM

wintermute
04-11-03, 09:25 PM
oh, missing post again... posting to make it appear

You do know that if you just go back to the index page and click on the little icon next to the latest post, it will take you to the 'hidden' post? (Assuming it's not the one when it's set the latest post to 1970)

It seems to happen when we delete posts from a thread, mucks up all the counting I think. Will be upgrading the forum in the near future, which will hopefully solve some of the issues, just want a spare day or so to do it in case it all goes horribly wrong...
