you should all know the score by now...
I've linked to the forum, rather than the specific thread so you can all see (and "book places" on) the forthcoming events.
I see your future Tuesday nights are Steam based games :(
Everyone here installed Steam yet? Has it got any better yet?

ive got it installed, and not had any trouble with it...
maybe they have finally brought enough servers online to handle the load - dont know, but im not having any trouble with it atm...
mind you, it will probably go to pot again when the next worthwhile mod patch is released...
I've got it installed and apart from trying to repoint my existing hl.exe shortcuts to steam.exe it's fine - though I've not actually played online using it much...
Also if you remove the steam.exe line from your HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run registry key you can stop the damn thing loading when the computer boots, which is a good thing...

Havent installed it, havent downloaded the lastest version and i dont intend to! (unless you have to to play HL2 when its released in which case i will relucantly do it)
dont plan to download steam, too much hassle for a 56k user

hunter - if your going to L13, i'll try to bring the monsta steam install along - contains fully patched versions of all the games on steam, so you dont have to download them :)
oh - and to stop things starting at startup, i use msconfig.exe - comes with windows. allows you to see everything that gets started (via autoexec.bat, config.sys, win.ini, system.ini, and registry), and switch individual items off.

Heads up guys!
AFAIK the WON authentication servers will be switched off in the not too distant future so if you want to play CS/DoD/TFC on the internet you will have to use Steam as the old version will no longer be able to authenticate you. More and more internet servers seem to be switching over to Steam Dedicated Servers.
Also, CS v1.6 and DoD v1.1 will ONLY be available through Steam.
Better upgrade sooner rather than later IMHO!
I have Steam installed and running CS/DoD/TFC and all work fine. I still have the old WON version installed but only for LAN events.
And before you ask, No I don't work for them!!!

DoD (Steam) on tuesday (21st) fellaz.
Hitman]if you want to play CS/DoD/TFC on the internet
This is the big question. Is it time to move on? Is there a good enough alternative out there?
Not that I ever played much CS online anyway, only when you guys were playing it on a Tuesday night, tbh.
As far as I am concerned, CoF will stick with CS 1.5 for our LANs...what we do at Lanarchy's is still to be decided. At present, I understand 1.6 wont work on a LAN, so it will have to be 1.5 anyway.
