Refresh rates

hi people its mincemeat here. yo by the way can some one please help me on the issue of refresh rates.

Im running xp and it switches to 60 hz when i play a game, however the settings in display properties are on 85hz.


i need help now. :x i have to feed my addiction of gaming and i cant while this current issue looms :shock:

What Graphics card are you running?

Do you have the latest driver for it?

Does it need a patch to work with the games you are trying to run (IIRC some of the Ge-Force cards do)

Have you checked the readmes on teh games that don't work?

my system :

gf4 ti4200 abit siluro, amdxp 2000+...... with winxp

graphics driver is the one supplied on cd.

and i have got service pack 1 for xp (personally it doesnt help much)

e.g i try to run mohaa on 85 hz (set on the actual driver settings and 85hz desktop) and when mohaa starts up its in 60 hz mode. the same goes for sof2 but half life is in 85hz??. do you know of any patches that fixes the winxp problem??? :(

OK, someone help me out here, I know that there are issues with refresh rates with the NVida GE-Force cards, but as I don't have one I don't know how you go about fixing them, can someone that does have one post with a link or something to the required patches/information?

I think I'd be wading round the card manufacturers website looking for an updated driver for a start though
