Lanarchy 21

That's right, the next LAN event run by our good selves is upon us.

Saturday 22nd October

http://www.lanarchy.co.uk/images/venue/stmarks/smoking_l20.jpg http://www.lanarchy.co.uk/images/venue/stmarks/gaming_l20.jpg

As usual we will be running dedicated servers and competitions of CS:Source and Battlefield 2 with some UT2004 and probably CoD2 thrown in for good measure. Other games are welcome, if enough people have them, we'll gladly get a game going.

Everything will kick off at the usual 10am and we'll go right though, stopping only for some pizza, until 10pm. There is free parking right outside, and with it being only 3 or 4 minutes from both the M25 and M1, it's a nice easy venue to get to from most of London and the Midlands.

http://www.lanarchy.co.uk/images/venue/stmarks/everyone_l20.jpg

The cost as always is only

Hi

Just wondered if its possible to have around 6-8 guys to come down and play Grand Prix Legends and/or GTR on the day? Both games can be played over a LAN with or without a dedicated server. The only other gear we would have is our wheels.

TIA

Ant.

Hi, to confirm, you would like to come along with 6 to 8 people, all with your own PC's to race all day long? Not a problem I guess. If there is a Dedicated Server download, we can always get a DS set up for you too.

Would you mind if others wanted to join the races?

This sounds like a fantastic idea and I'm totally up for it! But... How is everyone else getting there? are you all bringing your own computers? If so is anyone able to give me a lift at all? I'm living in London just by Westbourne Park station. Will of course pay towards gas money. Can anyone help at all?

helios
21-09-05, 01:39 PM
Right, well generally, people bring their own computers. We do have a couple of rentals machines and a few monitors (you could bring your computer and rent a monitor, or rent a full system ;) ) Here (http://www.lanarchy.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=41024#41024).

Punkduck
21-09-05, 02:43 PM
I'll keep that in mind if I can't get my own system up there. I think I'd much rather use my monster though. I'm kind of fond of the old girl ;) Hehe...

Anyone driving up from London though? That would be a bit of a life saver!

i should be there with 2 others to!! i think this one is going to be a tight fit.

McBain
21-09-05, 06:19 PM
Anyone driving up from London though?

It might be tricky. Magman is the only person I can think of that comes up from Central London... not sure he's coming to this one though.

Before long I'll get a seperate thread started for people needing and offering lifts which might make it easier to sort.

Should I put you down as coming along Punkduck? ( :welcome: welcome to the forums btw :) )

Punkduck
21-09-05, 07:56 PM
Yeah, put me down as coming :) I'll be there one way or another :P I'll let you know by the end of the week whether I'll be bringing my own machine or will be borrowing from someone else. Thanks for the welcome by the way :D

get on m1 bascily.

McBain
03-10-05, 10:01 PM
Except the M1 goes North...

The best thing is to have a look at the AA Route Planner (http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/planner_main.jsp?database=B), with the destination being WD24 5NQ

You probably want to get on the M25 somewhere, and head round to the north of it, getting of where it meets the M1.

Overkiller, will you be paying in advance (http://www.lanarchy.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3556), or paying on the door?

Mr XL, I'm aware I still need to confirm if I've received your payment yet. Did you send it via bank transfer to the Lanarchy.co.uk A+L account?

Hey,

I would like to go to the LAN near Leggatts West Herts Campus (My old college).

Unfortunately, due to transport arrangements etc, I won't be able to bring my own computer, to which I would have played UT2004. However, I would be able to bring in my laptop that has Quake 3 Arena and UT99 (would like to use someones comp to play some good old 2K4 though!!!)

Anywho, I would pay on the door (don't have a debit card), if at all possible :)

And just to clarify the location of the LAN, is it parallel to the climbing/jungle themed park near the round about?

Cheers :)

Penguin
07-10-05, 06:35 PM
Yep, thats the one

Its in a church, it has a car park, in some wooded area. The door is around the back side of the building (ie the one that isn't facing the road)

There are pictures from previous LANs around on the forums, they may help a bit as well

Hope to see you there :)

Rental machines can be booked Here (http://www.lanarchy.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3580), but these need to be booked and paid for in advance (there's only 2 of them, so first come first served)

McBain
07-10-05, 07:43 PM
... and one is gone already...

I might be able to make other arrangements, if you can get payment in advance. We insist on payment up front I'm afraid, as sometimes it does involve buying new parts and extra journeys to and from the venue. Sometimes people have asked, we've gone to the expense and trouble and then they don't show up :wall:

D_S_K
08-10-05, 12:07 AM

Yet again another great organised lan. Well done to the Lanarchy team again, which i have noticed has seemed to have expanded. Hi to all the new players, sorry didn't get a chance to say hi on the day, as was shocked that we got there in time to play the first game, and couldn't stop. Also had probs with BF2 and UT. Turns out it was due to the new profile i set up, and had to redo all my keys in both games, was pretty pissed.

All in all a great day especially winning 3 CSS games. We the [SEL] have never done that before and deserve a prize Mc Bain. Is it poss to have a belated one ready for us at the next Lan? Mincemeat it was a pleasure flying shotgun with you, great flying and it was great duelling with you Punk duck. Also great teamwork in CSS Jezzag, we'll team up next lan :D

I have picked up an 8-port 10/100/1000 switch for Team CRAP so that next time we can be connected to each other at a good rate.

If people get a few more we can connect everyone at 1gb (if server and peoples nics support it of course) I reckon 3 more 8 ports plus a 5 port to connect them to the server would do the trick.

Judging by those pictures it looked as if you all had a good time!
'fraid it's just a tad bit distant for me to drop by :(
Well if I win a lottery or something like that I'll be sure to drop by on the next Lanarchy event!

Its' all part of the plan - a few more upgrades and we'll be dead before we log on to the server.
