Completing games

Now I know that we are all multi-player gaming freaks (because we wouldn't be here if we weren't), but I assume that you all (or at least the majority) do play single player games every now and again?

So what have you completed? With a walk-through? Without a walk-through? With H4X? Without H4X?

I can open with: DOOMII. I did the whole thing without cheating once (not even IDKFA (max bullets)), though I couldn't do the very final level without using the 'walk through walls' cheat or God Mode (and on one occasion I actually managed to die on God mode!) until quite recently when I fired it up again and did the smegger on my second attempt! :D

I think that I would've finish Half life, except that it got stuck about 3/4 of the way through (in a lift... No way round it) without cheating
I've Done Baldurs gate (with the expansion) and all but did Baldurs gate 2 (with the expansion) before I got bored... Both without H4X, though I did glance at a walk-through in both a couple of times :oops:

And that's about it, cos back in the good old days when I used to play a LOT of games it was all about High scores on games with no end!

I've got a growing number of games that you just hit a point and just give up, shame really...

RtCW - Finished without a cheat
Elite Force - Finished without a cheat
JediKnight II - Finished without a cheat (I was just v. luckly with the end boss - two 'stab' with the power saber -class)


Currently playing Warcraft III + expansion, NWN + SOU (just hit half way :)), GTA Vice City, Matrix - Enter the Matrix (Stuck on protecting Ice T - think my heart just not in that one ;)) , Moh - Spearhead... (Stuck on Forest Artilary Attack soooo close.), Toca III, Splinter Cell (havn't got into it - stilll drooling over the graphics)

Don't mind amitting to cheating DOOM 2 - just to see the head, SoF 1 - overly hard boss IMOH - very dissapointing end, Halflife - just got bored with the alien thing and wanted it finished.

I really must try and finsih some b/f Half Life II and Doom III comes out. The problem with 160 Gb of HD you just load more and more games on without finishing them.

Unlike Scooby, i do use the cheats in BG and BG2, but only after i had almost completed it and needed to start again cos it crashed and lost all the saved games.

I have also almost completed NWN as well but in the final battle i get about halfway through and the game crashes. I got so p****ed off at this that i deleted averything from my PC :(

Other than that i tend to play the Sims, and you cant really complete that :D

Okay, here we go - MoH - Played SP for maybe a week, got bored.
RtCW - Played SP for maybe 3 days? Got bored.
GTAIII - Actually played for about a month, made the second island...got bored.
Vice City - Played for around 2 weeks, got bored.
Half Life - Played for a day.....guess what....got bored.
AoM - Played the tutorial and first SP campaing...got bored
BF1942 - Played the first SP campaign....ummm....got bored
JK2 - Completed in 3 days!!! Only joking, played SP for 2 days, got bored :roll:
Max Payne - Managed to stay interested for a couple of months...got bored and didn't play for half a year, played again for a few days...got bored...might go back to at somepoint
There are probably more, I'll add when I get home and can look at my games collection.

Oh I got 100% on GT1, GT2 and I'm on 75% on GT3, but I've not plugged the PS2 in for ages... Finished Outrun too :D

I got over halfway through Ice-wind dale II before I got stuck because I'd managed to kill a guy that you need to fix a switch and there is no other way out of the room if he's dead. He walked into a fireball while I was fighting a bunch of nasties. I never even saw him! By the time I realised (some time later) I'd saved over the top of the save game I had from before the fight where he died.

The only games I can ever remember finishing were Vandal Hearts and Vandal Hearts 2 on the PSX, really enjoyed the combat style but became very quickly bored when I discovered you couldn't do much beyond fight where they told you to fight. I always like the Bard's Tale series, and though I did get a lot of the way through Bard's Tale I I spent more time building up a vast army of different characters than I did trying to complete the game (because if I'm enjoying playing games, I don't see why I should bring the fun to an end by finishing it). I guess that's why I tend to go more for the sports sims these days...
